On the 24th and 25th September 2015, the Noble Auditorium at the School of Engineering of the University of Minho received the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the bachelor degree in Management Informatics as well as the beginning of academic training in Information Systems at the UMinho. The celebration included several talks by faculty members, researchers, (former) students and invited speakers, as well as several cultural events and exhibitions. The Department of Information Systems (DSI) and the student group AIS.SC UMinho co-organised the event.
The bachelor degree in Management Informatics (LIG) opened in 1990/91. It was the first degree in Information Systems and Technologies (IST) at the UMinho. In 2007/08, following the Bologna Process implementation, the programme was replaced by the 1st cycle degree in Information Systems and Technologies (LTSI). In 2012/13, the programme was changed into the integrated master’s degree in Information Systems Management and Engineering, combining the existing 1st cycle degree and master programme. Throughout the years, the educational offer in IST was complemented by the master degree in Information Systems (MSI) and the Doctoral Programme in Information Systems and Technologies (PDTSI), among others.
